Massachusetts Appleseed hosted its 2nd annual Good Apple Reception at the Boston Harbor Hotel’s Wharf Room on March 19, 2009.
During the Reception, Massachusetts Appleseed presented the “Good Apple Award” to Brackett B. Denniston, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of General Electric Company, for his constant commitment to public service, fairness and social justice.
William F. Weld introduced Mr. Denniston. Mr. Weld and Hugh Scott presented Mr. Denniston with the Good Apple Award. Mr. Weld is former Governor of Massachusetts and currently a partner of the law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP. Mr. Scott is a long time member of the Board of Directors for Massachusetts Appleseed and partner of the law firm, Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP.
Joan Meschino, Executive Director for Massachusetts Appleseed, was master of ceremonies for the event, which was enjoyed by nearly 150 guests and exceeded its original fundraising goal. The brief speaking program began with songs sung by the talented children’s choir from the Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy. Board officer, Lawrence Friedman, welcomed guests and congratulated Mr. Denniston on behalf of the Massachusetts Appleseed Board of Directors.
