Massachusetts Appleseed hosts the annual Good Apple Award Reception at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and several other events throughout the year.
Girls of color in Massachusetts schools face disproportionate rates of suspension, expulsion, and arrest. Let’s hear what they have to say.
Join Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and a Community Advisory Board of students, educational staff, and advocates as we release our new report that explores stories from girls of color about the impact of exclusionary discipline on their lives and amplifies how we can change discipline practices in our state to eradicate these racial and gender-based disparities.

On October 14, 2021, Massachusetts Appleseed was proud to honor and virtually celebrate Karen Morton, Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Liberty Mutual Insurance and recipient of the 2021 Good Apple Award. Enrique Colbert, General Counsel of Wayfair and recipient of the 2020 Good Apple Award, was also recognized during the event program following the cancellation of last year’s event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This event provides core funding for Massachusetts Appleseed’s work throughout the year, ensuring we can respond to urgent community needs and seize opportunities for action.
