2025 Good Apple Award Reception
The Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice gathered a vibrant community of changemakers at the 2025 Good Apple Awards, held November 13, 2025 in Boston. The event drew over 120 supporters, partners, and community leaders dedicated to expanding justice and equity across the Commonwealth. The program highlighted the critical issues facing communities statewide including: youth homelessness, the school-to-prison pipeline, and the barriers non-English speakers face interacting with government systems. The evening also served as a call to action, emphasizing Massachusetts Appleseed’s mission to mobilize a broad movement for systemic change across the state. Massachusetts Appleseed extends its gratitude to the event’s supporters, honorary host committee chairs, and the broader community whose partnership makes this work possible.
This year, we were proud to celebrate and honor James Parker, SVP, General Counsel of the Boston Celtics, with the 2025 Good Apple Award for his excellence in legal leadership and commitment to public service.
And, for the first time ever, we expanded the celebration with two additional awards to those who personify MA Appleseed’s commitment to equity, fairness, and social justice. Ropes & Gray received the inaugural Pro Bono Award in recognition of their deep dedication to pro bono legal service. Ursula Furi-Perry received the inaugural Community Leadership Award for her outstanding advocacy on behalf of youth experiencing homelessness and her dedication to advancing their legal rights.

“As someone who personally experienced long-term housing insecurity – and even a short bout with being unhoused while I was a first-generation college student – signing up to volunteer with MA Appleseed truly felt cathartic. Volunteering allows me to give back, to help young people who are struggling with some of the same issues that I experienced decades ago.”
